Pick up by guide at the hotel. Transfer to fascinating archaeological site Ek Balam where excavations and restorations continue. Most impressive is the Acropolis whose base is 160m long. Built atop is the massive main pyramid with amazing stucco skulls. Continue to Pueblo Magico Izamal, also known as the city of three cultures, where bishop Diego de Landa had built a convent over a Maya temple. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic center and climb the Firebird pyramid for a breathtaking roundview over colonial Izamal and its surroundings. Short Transfer to the Hacienda.
Overnight Izamal.
Transfer to the White City of Merida. City tour in Merida begins on the Zocalo (main plaza). Visit the oldest cathedral, Governors Palace with the stunning murals painted by local artist Pacheco, city founders former residence Francisco de Montejo as well as lively city market. Then cruising on Paseo de Montejo, Meridas Champs-Elysées, you can encounter many impressive neoclassical mansions, once homes of Sisal Barons. Your journey will continue to Celestun, a quiet fishing village at the Gulf of Mexico. Hundreds of pink flamingos are a fascinating sight during the boat tour in the lagoon. Many other water birds will join the fantastic spectacle: e.g. cormorants, pelicans, ducks and frigate-birds. Enjoy the beach while observing Pelicans diving into the shallow water of the Gulf of Mexico. Transfer to your Hacienda.
Overnight in Hacienda.
Guided visit of Hacienda Sotuta de Peón, built in the late 1800`s in Tecoh, Yucatán. Sotuta de Peón is the restoration project of a landmark located in the heart of the ancient henequén zone in the Yucatan state, and gives a true glimpse of what was once a fully operational Henequen Hacienda in the grand style and tradition of this period. When touring Sotuta de Peon, you will literally travel back in time, transported on wooden platforms called "Trucks" which are pulled by mules over Cauville rails, as were originally used by the workers. Here, you will witness the step-by-step process of the transformation of the Henequen (or Green Gold as it was known throughout the region), from plant to fiber and from fiber to finished product. And add to this the unique geological formations of our secret attractions, the Cenote or beautiful underground rivers of crystal clear water, highly sought after, alkaline waters. Take the time for a refreshing swim at the end of your tour, where you can safely swim in the cool waters of the Cenote. Your journey will continue to Uxmal (meaning three times built in Maya language) with its towering Pyramid of the Magician. The structure is over 35 meters high and was built according to the legend overnight by a dwarf. The Nunnery quadrangle, named thus by the first modern explorers, is unique in the Maya world, with its irregular, but still harmonious architecture. Frescos, statues of archpriests and snakes decorate these intriguing facades. Continue to discover a beautiful and unusual museum, the mysterious history of cocoa and its intimate relationship with the Mayan culture. Return to Hacienda.
Overnight in Hacienda.
Transfer to visit the biggest Maya site in Yucatan, Chichen Itza. Dominating the center of Chichén is the Temple of Kukulkan (the Maya name for Quetzalcoatl), often referred to as "El Castillo" (the castle). This step pyramid has a ground plan of square terraces with stairways up each of the four sides to the temple on top. Along the south wall of the Temple of Warriors are a series of what are today exposed columns, although when the city was inhabited these would have supported an extensive roof system. The columns are in three distinct sections. Learn more about the famous Kukulkan pyramid with the Equinox spectacle, Temple of Warriors, Holy Cenote and Observatory. Afternoon visit of a nearby cenote. Have a refreshing swim in crystal clear waters. Short transfer to the hotel.
Overnight Chichen Itza.
Transfer to Valladolid for a relaxed city walk in colonial center of the town. Continue to Coba, located around two lagoons. Once an important Mayan trading place, Coba was connected with a trail system (sacbes) to various other Mayan cities. The site contains several large temple pyramids, the tallest, in what is known as the Nohoch Mul group of structures, being some 42 metres in height. Coba is estimated to have had some 50,000 inhabitants (and possibly significantly more) at its peak of civilization, and the built up area extends over some 80 km2. Afterwards transfer to old Mayan port Tulum, one of the last cities inhabited and built by the Mayans. Tulum was at its height between the 13th and 15th centuries and managed to survive about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico. The Maya site may formerly have been known also by the name Zama, meaning City of Dawn because it faces the sunrise.
Transfer to Hotel at the Riviera Maya or Cancun.
